Walt Disney World
Magic Kingdom

This is the park that started it all in Central Florida and saw Walt's vision for a non-space-limited park fulfilled. Opening Oct. 1, 1971, the Magic Kingdom has lived up to its reputation as being a 'magical' place for decades and children of any age have never ceased to be drawn to the 'Happiest Place on Earth."

Patterned after Disneyland in California, the Magic Kingdom is separated into different 'lands' like the spoke's of a wheel. In the center hub is the beautiful and inspiring Cinderella's Castle, connecting all of the other lands:

Main Street U.S.A. - Patterned after Walt's boyhood home town of Marceline, Missouri, this turn-of-the-century shop-lined street welcomes you into the Magic Kingdom and is a popular viewing spot for parades and a great place to buy souvenirs or stop for a bite to eat.

Adventureland - Enter the land of every boy's childhood imagination. Home to the classic Pirates of the Caribbean, the Jungle Cruise, and the Swiss Family Treehouse, as well as the new and debatably improved Enchanted Tiki Room. This jungle-themed land is full of adventure and is a thrill for boys and girls, young and old.

Frontierland - This old-west inspired land hosts two of Magic Kingdom's biggest thrill rides, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Splash Mountain, which will appeal strongly to the thrill seeker in your family. There are also plenty for the less adventurous: the Country Bear Jamboree is not only a great way to get in out of the heat, but is also a great show that will make you laugh until your sides hurt.

Liberty Square - Reminiscent of turn-of-the-century New England, Liberty Square is a great place to learn about our Nation's heritage. The Hall of Presidents and the Liberty Square Riverboat provide some great educational information and shouldn't be missed by any homeschoolers. Liberty Square is also home to one of the more popular attractions, except maybe for small children, the Haunted Mansion and it's 999 happy haunts (although there is always room for one more).

Fantasyland - Loved by children, frequented by adults, Fantasyland brings back happy memories in all of us. How could you not love Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Cinderella's Golden Carrousel, or the Mad Tea Party ride? And all of us have that love/hate relationship with It's a Small World. There are even new classics such as Mickey's PhilharMagic and the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, which replaced Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

Mickey's ToonTown Fair - Targeted towards preschoolers and younger children, this land is just for them. Here they can meet Mickey and Minnie and even tour their houses!

Tomorrowland - The future that never was, Tomorrowland was one of Walt's favorites and home to one of the greatest coasters ever, Space Mountain. This futuristic themed land is also home to newer rides such as Stitch's Great Escape and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin as well as nostalgic classics such as Tomorrowland Indy Speedway and Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress.
