Parks & Recreation Grand Canyon Although 278 miles from Las Vegas, if you are that close you need to go. Over 277 miles long and, in some cases, 18 miles wide, the Grand Canyon is as majestic as they come. The most popular tourist spot is the South Rim, here you can hike or ride mules to the bottom at the Colorado River.

Hoover Dam The Hoover Dam was built in the 1930s to regulate water in the area and is the highest concrete dam in the Western Hemisphere. There are tours available and incredible views from the observation deck.

Lake Mead This wonderfully refreshing recreation area is the 16th largest made lake in the U.S. It is a popular spot for boaters, swimmers and hikers. There are lots of rental facilities, campgrounds and motels for guests to come play and stay.

Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort Skiing in Las Vegas doesn’t seem possible, but up in the mountains the weather is quite different. Usually 30-40 degrees cooler than the valley, this setting offers the perfect spot for a ski resort. There over 40 acres and 10 trails for skiers, and 30 acres for snowboarders. The resort is also capable of renting everything you could possibly need.

Red Rock Canyon Located close to Las Vegas this park is a favorite with hikers and picnickers. You can hike a 13 mile loop while ogling the 300ft high red rock formations.

Springs Preserve Open daily, this 180 acre park is dedicated to desert landscapes and preserving the beauty and knowledge of them. There are 4 walking trails and an 1800 seat outdoor amphitheater.
