Museums
Academy of Natural Sciences - The
Academy is the oldest natural science research institution and museum in
the Americas. A couple of the permanent exhibits are the Live
Butterflies and Dinosaur Hall. There are also a few incredible wildlife
dioramas of Africa, Asia and North America.
Atwater-Kent Municipal Museum-Founded
over 60 years ago, this museum claims to be the history museum for all
things related to Philadelphia. Among it's permanent exhibits is
Experience Philadelphia: a 40' x 40' map of the city and surrounding
areas and Norman Rockwell: The Artist Behind the Image. This exhibit
showcases 45 of his Saturday Evening Post covers.
Franklin Institute - The museum opened
in 1934 and was designed to be a hands-on approach to science and
technology. Among the more popular exhibits are: Franklin National
Memorial, Sir Isaac's Loft and The Giant Heart.
Philadelphia Museum of Art - Founded
over 125 years ago, this museum houses over 225,000 pieces of art, and
has 25 exhibits a year. The museum is more famous in recent years from
the outside steps where Rocky Balboa made his triumphant training run. |
